Professional Role and Involvement in the Field of PM&R
In my current roles, I am actively involved in the clinical, educational, and organizational aspects of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at both local and national levels. As an Associate Professor and practicing physiatrist, I provide care in both academic and community settings. As Director of Osteopathic Education, I provide educational support for local PM&R, FM, and ONMM residencies. On a national level, I contribute by speaking at PM&R conferences and annual meetings, engaging with residents and faculty, and regularly presenting lectures and workshops at AOCPMR, AAPM&R, AAP, and AAO events. Additionally, I write exam questions and serve as an oral board examiner for both the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This varied experience gives me a unique perspective and advantage, enabling me to advance AOCPMR’s mission by staying deeply connected to the educational standards, clinical needs, and professional development of physiatrists at all stages, while supporting a sustainable and osteopathic-focused vision for our specialty.
AOCPMR Leadership or Committee Experience
Since 2023, I have co-chaired the AOCPMR Education Committee and served on the Board of Trustees. I also led planning for the AOCPMR Annual Meeting and the OMED Conference in 2023 and 2024. On the education committee, I helped set a clear timeline/logistics for developing educational products for our two main conferences. I am building relationships with other specialty colleges, such as ACOFP and AAO, to create resources for AOCPMR members and the broader osteopathic community. These efforts have resulted in new partnerships for workshops. I believe strong educational programming helps our organization grow, and I have started working with AOBPMR to see if we can offer more practical resources for our members. I plan to keep focusing on this going forward.
