Professional Role and Involvement in the Field of PM&R

My current professional role is interventional pain physiatrist with the the Chronic Pain Management Clinic under the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center where I take care of our veteran patients who have given so much for our freedom.  It is also a privilege as a veteran myself to take care of our fellow veterans to share empathy and compassion while providing utmost professional care in musculoskeletal medicine, electrodiagnostics, and interventional spine.  I am also serving as a clinical assistant professor with the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine to be able to teach clinical education to our next generation of osteopathic physicians.  Furthermore, I am awaiting clinical faculty appointment from the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University as an affiliated attending physician at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center to provide education to allopathic medical students in PM&R and Pain while actively supervising PM&R residents from 2 separate programs at Larkin Community Hospital – South Miami, and Broward Health Hospital.

AOCPMR Leadership or Committee Experience

N/A.  I was a member as as resident during training, but have not yet had a chance to participate in the past AOCPMR leadership or committees.  However I have served in the Army Reserve during residency and fellowship while completing GME to learn to balance education and public service, and have also deployed on active-orders to the Middle East 10 days after fellowship graduation as the only physiatrist for the US military forces in the Middle East during deployment to serve as the unit chief medical officer and a musculoskeletal expert to gain valuable experience as a clinician and leader which I strive to use for the advancement of osteopathic PM&R as a trustee and part of the AOCPMR Executive Committee / Leadership.
