Volunteer Opportunities In AOCPMR

AOCPMR Needs Your Help and Expertise

  • Join a Committee
Joining a committee is a great way to get involved, meet new people and give back to the profession. There are many committees in the College so you may choose where you have a special interest or would enjoy helping out.  We are always looking for new ideas and new people to bring their energies and talents for a bigger, better, stronger organization.

  • Lecture to Attendings, Residents and/or Students
AOCPMR is dedicated to furthering the knowledge and education of our future physiatrists and we are looking for lecturers at the medical school campuses and national conferences. Volunteer today to give a lecture at the Student Conference, run a Resident Workshop or even lecture to your peers at a CME meeting.
  • Participate In and Help Plan CME Meetings
Every year we have an annual and mid year conference as well as an Interventional Pain Management Course. We welcome volunteers to serve as chairs for one of these conferences or to sit on a planning committee and help develop the focus and lecture content.
  • Conduct Research
Volunteer to serve as a research mentor to the physiatrists in training.
  • Mentor a Medical Student or Resident
We have an entire network of medical students and residents who have questions and concerns that they would love to talk over with an experienced medical professional who has been where they are and has great advice and experience to share.
    • Engage in our organization and in the profession by affecting the future of it all. Become a mentor and offer your time and talent and experience to our medical student members. There are many ways that you can assist medical students who are interested in PM&R through the AOCPMR Mentor Program:
    • Volunteer to lecture to one of our AOCPMR chapters at an osteopathic medical school in or nearby your geographic region.  Many of the osteopathic medical schools may not have a physiatrist on staff and this is a great opportunity to get medical students interested in the field.
    • Offer to lead a workshop to one of the PMR clubs at your local osteopathic medical school. Students are interested in many areas of practice and are hungry for hands-on education.  Consider running a workshop on something that you are really interested in or well trained in.
    • Allow medical students to rotate with you as third or fourth year students.  While the student is in your company, feel free to offer advice about surviving medical school, the residency application process, the field of Physiatry and any other pearls of wisdom you’ve learned along your path.
  • And Much Much More
As our College continues to grow, many more opportunities to get involved will be available.
Feel free to share your ideas! We welcome everyone’s participation, ideas and input.
