Q: What is your hometown?
A: Saline, MI
Q: Where did you attend for your undergrad studies and what field(s) did you study?
A: I went to Hope College and double majored in Chemistry and Kinesiology.
Q: Why did you join AOCPMR?
A: I joined the AOCPMR because I wanted to learn more about the specialty of PM&R and the opportunities available to interested students.
Q: What first attracted you to Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation?
A: I absolutely loved my kinesiology classes at Hope College. They first exposed me to the idea of pursuing rehabilitation in my future career. I knew I wanted to go to medical school so when I learned about this specialty it seemed to fit perfectly with what I was looking for!
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: When I have spare time I like to downhill ski, read, watch movies, scrapbook, dance, and enjoy the company of family and friends.
Q: What is one goal you have for AOCPMR in the coming year?
A: Going into my 3rd year I’d like to work on some sort of preparation for students going into their PM&R rotations. I think it would be good to get together a group of powerpoint presentations outlining many important aspects of the physical medicine, especially those related to patient care. It might also be helpful to come up with a recommended book list so that students will know what references are helpful when going into rotations.
