Name:  Maryum Rafique, DO
Medical School: Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine
Graduation Year: 2008

Q: What is your hometown?
A: Youngstown, OH

Q: Where did you attend for your undergrad studies and what field(s) did you study?
A: Youngstown State University, Biology/Chemistry

Q: Why did you join AOCPMR?
A: I joined AOCPMR because of the wonderful people and the great opportunities!   AOCPMR actively helps to advance the field of PMR and osteopathy by allowing physicians and students to submit scholarly work, attend national conferences with renowned lecturers, and participate in mentoring programs for physicians in training.

Q: What first attracted you to Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation?   PM&R had many similarities to the basic tenets of Osteopathy; the most important being that PM&R and osteopathic medicine emphasize the holistic approach to the patient.  Also, Osteopathy established my interest in musculoskeletal medicine, while PMR allowed me to maintain that interest.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: I like to spend time exploring the great city of Philadelphia.  Philly has such great museums, culture, restaurants and, of course, the sports teams!

Q: What is one goal you have for AOCPMR in the coming year?
A: I would really love to have an OMM driven event/workshop for members because regular exposure to osteopathic manipulative medicine can be difficult to obtain in training and beyond.
